NSV-orama

Today was an awesome day for NSVs...

I was starting off on my usual afternoon jog/walk and ran into a woman that I see every so often. We got to talking and she was asking about my running and walking and if I went every day. I told her yes. She mentioned that she wanted to lose weight and said I probably didn't know anything about that. I said that I did, in fact, and I had lost 100 pounds on Weight Watchers. She was taken aback and said "are you serious?" I said I was and she asked if she could join me on my walk.

We walked around the complex and she had so many questions. I told her I was on WW and attended at-work meetings. She still had a hard time believing that I was once very heavy but eventually realized that I was very serious.

She said that she saw me running all the time and that I looked athletic and she just assumed I was always thin. She had many nice things to say about how healthy I looked, "the picture of health" she said. Then she was saying that my story was very inspirational for her.

I'm not sure if she will join WW and attend meetings or not, but it was so nice to hear all of those kind words from her. What a GREAT day!!!

Memorial Day Weekend

This was a weekend filled with food challenges, but it to be getting easier and easier to deal with these things now.

Saturday's challenges included a Greek Festival. And, later on in the day, cards and munchies over a friend's house. I did a good job of having just a little of the less point-friendly snacks (pepperoni and crackers, taquitos, etc.). For dessert, we had vanilla yogurt and fresh fruit which was delicious!

Sunday, we had a christening followed by a dinner celebration at a pub/restaurant. They had an open bar there. I had one *real* drink and drank water the rest of the time. They had a big menu selection and I ended up with grilled salmon and grilled veggies. Once again, we went to the same friend's house in the evening to continue our card game. More munchies (I passed on all of them) and dessert (I had a very small piece of cheesecake).

Monday was a quit family day with a trip to the diner for breakfast/lunch, some shopping and errands, and then back home to do work around the yard.

Lancaster County Weekend

DW, DS, and I went to Lancaster County PA for along weekend with my in-laws this past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It ended up being the usual food-fest and shopping extravaganza... but I wasn't as "out of control" as I have been in the past.

And, a great NEW behavior, I visited the hotel's gym every night and put in an hour exercising. I mixed it up using their treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bike. They had a TV in there so I watched a movie while exercising and the time went by very quickly. And, I slept VERY well too.

Mother's Day Weekend to Now

Mother's Day weekend ended up being more of a food-fest than I originally anticipated. My son and I took my wife out for breakfast which wasn't bad. But, dinner with the inlaws was at an elaborate brunch/dinner buffet. While I had mostly seafood and vegetables, I definitely overate.

This week has been going good. The weather has been cooperative and so far I've had three days of 10K+ steps (including 4+mile jog/walks).

This coming weekend (from Friday through Sunday) will be spent in Lancaster PA which is definitely the land of temptation. I will report back on how I did after the trip.

End of Week 1 of Blogging

So, I didn't remember to post something each day... but why post something if there isn't anything new to say, right?

I did okay at this weeks WW weigh in. I actually stayed the same for once. I've been having some sizeable fluctuations up and down on the scale (up and down almost 2 pounds per week) so it's good to see some stability.

Tonight, I had dinner at a BBQ place (http://www.bobbique.com) and indulged a bit with pulled pork and some other stuff, but managed to stay OP and only use a few weekly points. I haven't used any weekly points this week, so I should be okay.

I'm looking forward to the weekend with whatever it brings... including some yard work and a get-together with the inlaws for Mother's Day.

Another Day, Another Entry

I didn't get to post anything over the last few days and I don't really have time today either. Things have been a little crazy at work (and at home).

I did experiment with adding a photo to my blog page -- it's a recent photo of me, my son, and my nephew (at my nephew's wedding).

Today's Activities

The weather was beautiful today and I finally got to get in some yard work.

I did a bunch of weeding, trimming, and cleanup... and although I didn't do much actual walking, I already have about 3K steps in for today from yard work!

Dinner tonight is shish-kebabs with chicken, shrimp, and lots of fruit and veggies! I'm hoping to convince my wife and son to go for a walk around the block tonight.
